Sounds kind of weird don’t you think. The Russian Golf Open. Cool even.
Anyway, in its 2nd year the Russian Golf Open gets under way in Moscow at the Le Meridien Country Club. Check out the photos of the heavily wooded course here.
At 6542 metres, with a par of 72 it’s not a long course so accuracy off the tee will be key I expect. I reckon kiwi Steve Alker will play well around here. I played with him some years ago and he is sneaky long, and accurate. He is a tidy wee golfer with a good temperament. Another kiwi Mahal Pearce is playing, with a sponsorship from Fisher and Paykel who make fridges and washing machines. Do Russians use refridgerators?
Anyway, my picks for this one. Current Scottish amatuer champ Richie Ramsay of Scotland is making his professional debut so wouldn’t that be something. If you check out the entry list you’ll see there’s not alot of name players which is kinda dissapointing. Isn’t 244000.00 euros enough? Obviously not.
I tellya Peter Fowlers playing well for an old bloke. I’d love to see him get up. Another Aussie Wade Ormsby played well last week finishing 8 under so he will be feeling on the up and up.
Lee Slattery is coming off a 7th place finish Deutsche Bank and looks the in form player too me along with fellow Brit Steve Webster. Put your money on either one of these guys. But not too much.
